South Sudan Visit from Phil and Janet!!

 Welcome again,

Today Phil and Janet came to OLA school and they taught us about South Sudan!!

First they told us "Peace be with you" in South Sudanese this is how you pronounce it.
The person who is greeting you says "As-Salam Alykum" and we say back "Alykum As-Salam."
Next we learnt where South Sudan is.
Janet and Phil actually live in South Sudan, Juba which is the main city in South Sudan.
In South Sudan there is Sudanese Coins so they actually use pounds!
Phil had some with him today and if we had a good question we would get it!
and guess what...
i got one!! here it is:

That is 2 pounds and here is a $100 note and in New Zealand it is.. only 30c unbelievable!
South Sudan have no electricity so they have very dark homes.
now i am going to write down some notes that i took in the visit.

  • South Sudan and Sudan were to countries until 2010
  • South Sudan gets to 40 degrees in the day!
  • there is no serge in South Sudan
  • they do not have a toilet they just squat on the ground around a big hole!

Thank You (once again) for reading my blog!!
